Sunset Summer Wedding in Valley View

Early summers in Yosemite mean thundering falls and rushing rivers

Eloping in Yosemite Valley during early summer is a dream come true for nature-loving couples. By June, Yosemite National Park is transitioning into its peak beauty: waterfalls are still roaring from the spring melt, wildflowers begin to bloom across the meadows, and the famous granite cliffs glow in the warm summer light. One of the best things about early summer in Yosemite is the chance to see its waterfalls at their peak flow. Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Fall, Vernal Fall, and Nevada Fall all put on a show, and the mist rising from these waterfalls can add an ethereal touch to photos. The Valley’s lush greenery is also at its fullest during this time, adding vibrant color to the rocky terrain. While Yosemite is well know for the multitude of waterfalls many don’t run all year, many visitors are quite surprised to discover dry waterfalls when visiting Yosemite from September through most of winter. So if the falls are important to your elopement plans make sure to plan accordingly. Peak flow rate is from late spring through early summer. That also happens to be the busiest time in the park which is no coincidence. But if you get into the park early enough and avoid the crowds the waterfalls are well worth it. It’s hard to top massive waterfalls for a wedding backdrop.

Early June in Yosemite Valley usually brings mild, pleasant weather, with daytime temperatures averaging around 70–80°F, making it comfortable for both formal attire and a day of exploring the park. Mornings and evenings can be cool, especially in shady areas near rivers or the base of waterfalls, so bringing a light layer is always a good idea. Snow has typically melted in the Valley by this time, but you’ll still see snow on higher peaks, creating a dramatic, photogenic backdrop.

a few awesome ceremony or photo spots for early June weddings:

Yosemite Falls: Standing beneath North America’s tallest waterfall is nothing short of epic. Yosemite Falls is accessible with a short walk and offers a grand, iconic backdrop. The sound and mist add a sense of wonder, and the lighting in the morning and late afternoon is perfect for photos.

Cathedral Beach: Located along the Merced River, Cathedral Beach is quieter and offers a peaceful view of El Capitan reflected in the water. It’s a beautiful location for a secluded, intimate ceremony in nature, with picnic areas nearby for a small post-ceremony celebration.

Leave No Trace: Yosemite is one of the most visited park in the US and the toll that many vistors take on the park is hard to miss. So following Leave No Trace principles is more important than ever.

If you’re dreaming of an intimate, awe-inspiring wedding in a world-renowned landscape, Yosemite Valley in early summer may just be the perfect place for your unforgettable adventure.
