Tony and Kimberly’s Joshua Tree elopement
On a chilly October morning I met up with these two lovebirds a bit before sunrise at Cap rock. It being before sunrise there was no shortage of crip fall air and we quickly hit the trail to get our blood pumping. One of the best things about eloping in Joshua Tree is the sunrises. The relatively flat landscape of Joshua Tree allows the sun to peak over the horizon low in the sky giving you that brilliant orange light that makes for some incredible photos. Kimberly and Tony lucked out and got a fantastic sunrise, nature was really working with us this day. We trekked through the desert landscape and these two had a blast dancing, and strutting their stuff. Their perfectly coordinated outfits had killer bohemian vibes and fit in perfectly with the desertscape. And boy did that sunshine feel good when it crested the horizon.
After an amazing sunrise at Cap rock, we decide to top it with an even more incredible session at Hidden Valley. Joshua Tree is know for its incredible desert scenes, but there’s more to the park that just boulders. Pinion pines, Desert Willows, and other plant life flourish in Locations like Hidden Valley. The greenery contrasts excellent with the many boulders creating a unique backdrop for your elopement through the desert. We climbed the boulders with care to get some higher ground and take in a view second to none. Not a bad way to spend the morning. After countless incredible photos we parted ways for breakfast and I couldn’t wait for the late afternoon ceremony. Splitting the session like this allowed us to get both sunrise and sunset and skip all the ugly midday light not to mention the crowds.
Sunset Ceremony at Cap Rock
After some food and a much needed nap we met back up at Cap Rock again. This time with family joining us for an intimate ceremony. We had scouted out a spot that morning so it was a quick walk out and then we were ready to get things rolling. These two had some lovely vows and there wasn’t a dry eye among the lot of us. After the ceremony and some family photos we headed out for our final photos of the day at Barker Dam. We had hoped for some water in the reservoir to get some reflection shots but our luck so far didn’t hold up. But we still got some incredible shots as the sun set and I absolutely love our final shot off the day as Tony held Kimberly’s hand as she walked across the boulders.
